Any pun that I get the moment I see it is lame.
Staggeringly lame pun - Michelle Grattan would have killed them otherwise.
Maybe she already has. Journos, alas, usually have no control over what dickheaded headings (dickheadings?) the subs put over their stuff.
I think since it's The Age, it's probably a pun rather than a typo.if it was the Centralian Advocate, I'd be less clear on the matter.
I've noticed that both the Age and the ABC websites often have typos -- obviously they run the spell-check (if that) and don't do anything else. El, Hume Dow would have been before your time at Melb U -- he was the old journo (so old he'd worked not only on the Age but also on the Argus before it) who taught me how to proofread properly (right to left, bottom to top, and line by line, with a ruler, while a second person read the text aloud including all punctuation and spacing), during my first (and his last) year of teaching at Melb U. He would be spinning in his grave if he could see that website.
It was all worth it for "dickheadings".
