Too adorable or not too adorable?

Here's a Quote of the Day that I've pinched from poor bloody Liz at Grannyvibe, on whom I check up most days and who, it seems, may yet have "only" non-Hodgkins lymphoma instead of full-on inoperable lung cancer. She is toughing it out, as you would expect from a woman who weight-trains. Today she offers an assortment of gems from Dorothy Parker, of which this is one:

I'd like to have money. And I'd like to be a good writer. These two can come together, and I hope they will, but if that's too adorable, I'd rather have money.

Spoken like a true writer.

Best wishes to her.

Gee, she's good, isn't she? Grannyvibe, I mean.

I'm very fond of the following by DP:

SONG OF ONE OF THE GIRLS

Here in my heart I am Helen;
I'm Aspasia and Hero, at least.
I'm Judith, and Jael, and Madame de Stael;
I'm Salome, moon of the East.

Here in my soul I am Sappho;
Lady Hamilton am I, as well.
In me Recamier vies with Kitty O'Shea,
With Dido, and Eve and poor Nell.

I'm of the glamorous ladies
At whose beckoning history shook.
But you are a man, and see only my pan,
So I stay at home with a book.

pav - in that funny way of the web I once read Granny from a mention you made and then went on to learn more from her site and others about using free weights.

I'm hoping that doing free weight excercises for women doesn't make me all giggly, girlie and ending up wearing pink frilly chiffon.

I'm sure it won't, FXH. I did a bit of light free weight work (and the machines) after they x-rayed my neck and realised how very nearly I had broken it in the Great 1986 Duke's Highway Rollover Massacre and what a mess it still is, and the weight training was really, really good for me and had no perceptible effect on my gender presentation either way. Why I'm not still doing it is a complete mystery, but seeing the pics of Granny is nudging me along back to the gym.

&D -- love the Parker!

I trust then, FXH, you know of Mistress Krista? http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/stumptuousblog.php

No frilly pink shit there.
