But I doubt if any publisher would let me call it Femmobolshoblogohemisphere, no matter how hard I begged

I find that some time in the last 24 hours I have written, if only in my head, most of the introductory chapter of a book whose subtitle (visible or otherwise) would be 'Blogging and Gender'.

Unfortunately, much as I would love to research and write said book, there's the small matter of doing the work to pay the bills, including the time-consuming paperwork I'm sure will be involved in taking out a petrol loan, and the several months it will take to clean up the house for sale so I can keep paying for health insurance, which in any case is largely a scam.

So much to say, so little time.

'Femmobolsho etc' seems catchier to me than 'Blogging and gender'. And I'd buy it.

Hey, I would as well!

PC, did you get to see the Donizetti at the cinema on the weekend?

Alas, no -- in the event, the weekend was devoted almost entirely to mates whose lives are in chaos. Almost everyone in my immediate circle of friends is in strife at the moment, and I keep thinking I'm next ...

Happy birthday anyway

Why thank ya, FS!

My 81-year-old father is (at his own insistence) doing a lamb roast for my birthday dinner.

and in all likelihood they would put some headless tits on the cover.

Have you considered any kind of subscription or donation arrangement?
If each of your 88,000 visitors had supplied $10.00, you could afford a little time off for serious writing :)

I reckon the Australia Council would eat that idea up with a spoon, Pav.

I would so, so read that. Maybe you could serialise it here in sub-chapters, then yoink it together with maccano and Clag later?

Oooh, I like that $10 idea, Peter. Better than having ads up on the blog, that's for sure.

PS On the same subject - your comments about this in your paper on blogging in HEAT 16 started a very heated (boom tish) discussion on the topic in my house the other night. A v. thoughtprovoking paper. I'd also love to read your extended thoughts on the subject!

Regarding that ozco comment: again with the sigh.

Well, I'm up for 10 bucks if you're up for it. But I'd fully expect my name to be used as a character.

I'm with Duckie. I'd even pay $20. Happy to be killed off horribly even, although it might be a bit hard to work that into the book as outlined.

Now there's a challenge - coming up with suitably gruesome demises for a suspense & mystery yarn based on blogging.

Oh, and happy birthday for the weekend!

The Chauvel is running a reprise of the Donizetti due to popular demand on Wed 21st this month, Pav - I wonder whether the Adders arthouse cinemaa might be doing the same? The shows do book out quickly.

Thanks TT, I will check that out today.

Hadn't thought of writing the blogging and gender book as a novel, but it is certainly a thought!

Would you consider doing an edited collection? (Although probably realistically not that much less work.)
