In other oven-fresh foopball news, the APY Lands clobbered Maralinga this afternoon in what was apparently a cracker of an all-Indigenous curtain-raiser down the road in West Lakes at Pleurisy Park, where the main event, Port Power v West Coast Eagles, got going a few minutes ago.

They will win. Although I have to admit I found the limits of my fandom this week and let the mister take his turn with the season ticket this week - it is so cold and well, while they should win...
ReplyDeleteWas watching the delayed action on the teeve till a minute ago and they were actually IN FRONT -- beating the top team, and without Pickett, Primus, Wanganeen and other heroes of the past.
ReplyDeleteRe 'so cold', I just heard on the teeve that the hot water system at Pleurisy Park is on the fritz (or do I mean 'on the devon'?) and the boys will be having cold showers after the game. Surely the massive financial and influential resources of the AFL could rustle up an after-hours plumber/electrician/whatever?
"foopball" is obviously not a typo, but your inner Freudian alerting you it's a game played by backwards poofs.
ReplyDeleteTsk tsk tsk ... it's sad the way some people just refuse to see why this is a great game. You miss out on so much, you non-southern eastern states types.
ReplyDelete'Foopball' is a phonetic rendition of the way most AFL commentators pronounce this word. I believe Molesworth also calls it foopball. But I wouldn't reject your diagnosis out of hand, either.
Oh, I much prefer it to either of the rugby codes, Ms Cat, and have long believed that AFL players are by far the handsomest of atheletes.
