Have the economic theorists call when they're ready to explain the price of cherries. Always happy to hear on this topic from someone who actually knows what s/he's talking about, but I'm not holding my breath.)

ReplyDeleteYes, Taggart the series deserves five stars alone for the way Mark McManus would say 'there's been a mudder'. And after just googling McManus now I'm all the more convinced of his general excellence after discovering he had a role in one of my other British cop favourite series from years ago, Strangers (with 'George Bulman'). And at one stage he worked on the Sydney docks and had roles in Skippy and Ned Kelly (1970)!!

Yep, that Ned Kelly. According to IMD, McManus played Joe Byrne (I've only seen clips of the film).
ReplyDeleteBTW, forgot to ask. What kind of music did you sing in the band? And your favourite or best-performed song?
Dreadful, dreadful -- we were a very small-time 60/40 band playing at small suburban gigs. This was a very long time ago and there was still lots of demand for Beatles classics, so I got the ballads -- Let It Be and The Long and Winding Road, usually. Most of the rest of the time, as the only girl in the band and therefore at the bottom of the pecking order, I was only allowed to play keyboards and sing backup. I had a much better time and made a lot more money singing Joni Mitchell songs by myself in the university union bar.
