Anon, I take it you mean you like choc chip hot cross buns, and I'm sure they are indeed very nice, but my point was that if they are choc chip then they are not, by definition, hot cross buns as we know them.
As far as I'm concerned, a bona fide hot cross bun is a bun with spices, fruit, peel, and crosses made out of icing.
I did a post last year about the apparently 'fruitless' hot cross buns for sale at my local supermarket. I like the 'fruitful' (including peel) variety myself.
I got hate mail about my description of Ouyen in a blog post, but it's simply a fact that the caff there sells a 'plain' pizza topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and ham.

And can I just repeat: pineapple is a fruit delicious eaten fresh (chunks or slices I'm not fussed). Once heated it is inedible. If battered, it can be used as something, I'm sure, but that something is not food. All said in a grumpy, uptight way.

My nephew loves nachos pizzas with sour cream. It's like eating corn cardboard.
