In a Pollyanna moment ...

... I have, yet again, attempted to jump-start my litblog A Fugitive Phenomenon, which was dying a slow ugly death from neglect. Its name, orginally a quotation from an essay by Nicholas Jose that was published in Australian Book Review in (I think) November 2005 to describe 'Australian literature' as such, has become even more gnomic since I turned it into a blog about literature generally, rather than just Aust Lit.

Anyway, for those who just want to read about books and writing without having to wade through the tomatoes and the cats and the feminist cultural analysis and so forth, that's the place to go.

OH MY GOD!

I've just got back from America, and in my head I read 'tomatoes' as 'to-may-toes'!

I shall go there forthwith, Doctor Cat. Of a Saturday it is usually my habit to purchase the papers and read through most of the book reviews, and one of the things I have missed during my American sojourn has been your book reviews in the weekend section.

Right. You don't have to sit in the naughty corner for a whole year.

'I say potayto,
You say potahto ...'

Oh, and welcome home!

You mean a whole blog like your book reviews? Be still my beating heart! But seriously, I do look forward to them. Especially in these times of limited book buying.

No no, I'll spare you that. Just news and chat and wild speculation and so forth about books and writing. The whole point of a blog is that you can say whatever you like, however you like, as distinct from book reviews which are actually quite a convention-bound genre and involve multiple responsibilities.
